WHY SAY "I DO" IN MALTA?
From the moment you both decide that you want to exchange vows, "I do" Weddings can help you realize
your dream Wedding abroad. With my colleagues Pat and Charles in Malta and myself here in Ireland, your worries
are over. We can take care of all your planning needs, from the legal paperwork(for Church and Civil) sourcing a
venue to suit the number of guests, organizing transportation, helping you with Menu choices and accommodation.
It's that simple. All you need to do is turn up. It couldn't be easier!!!
The beautiful Island of Malta, nestled in the Mediterranean Sea, geographically is placed beneath the island of
Sicily and north of Africa. Malta to me is like Connemara in the sunshine, rugged country side with stone
walls, fantastic food, wine and a genuine warmth from its people. It is blessed with 10 months of sunshine and
crystal clear waters, which makes it a favourite place for Irish people to marry, take holidays and for the
lucky ones, to reside there.
There is an abundance of places to choose from for your Wedding reception, from 5 star Hotels to genuine Maltese restaurants to
Stately Castles (with swimming pools!) Because Malta is not a huge island the longest journey anyone should need to take is
approximately 45 mins. This will take you to the Northern end of the Country which has a regular ferry service to the Island of
Gozo and its famous blue grotto with its crystal clear waters, a favorite for swimmers and those who like to snorkel.. Malta is a very Catholic country and most towns and villages boast at least 2 Churches.

Rainfall in Malta
What is important about the winter rain is that the rain tends to be far heavier but for far shorter periods than in Ireland
and with sunshine rather than clouds after the rain. On average at the worst in mid winter more than half the days are sunny.
Malta's rainfall is heavier than that in Ireland in Winter but far dryer in Summer with very little rain
from April through to August. To generalise the rain starts in the second / third week in September and changes to dryer weather in the third week in March.
Unlike Cyprus where snow falls in the Troodos mountains, Malta never has any snow falls because of it's mild winter climate.
Temperature & Sunshine in Malta
You can expect it to be warmer and sunnier than Ireland throughout the year. April, May and June are a nice time for very pleasant
weather, good for sunbathing and not too hot when walking around the tourist sites, shopping, and just strolling around. Another
benefit the country side is still green from the winter rain for most of the earlier part of this period. July & August the
country side tends to become scorched and the heat is slightly above the pleasant range, time to be around your hotel pool, or on a
beach in the early afternoon. The first 2 weeks in September have a pleasant temperature after this you can expect some rain. A
popular vacation destination to avoid the Irish winter, and because this is low season long term bargains can be found.
Shopping
All shopping arcades and shops are situated in very central places and visitors may easily reach these localities either by private or
public transport. Shops are open daily from 09.00hrs to 13.00hrs and from 16.00hrs to 19.00hrs.
In commercial areas frequented by tourists however, most shops remain open until approximately 10.00 pm. The shops in these localities
offer all that customers may need such as food, fashionable clothes for all types of occasions and clients, souvenirs, shoes, hifi
equipment and household accessories. Shops are not open on Sundays and public holidays.
The Euro is the currency of Malta.
Major credit cards, travellers cheques and eurocheques are accepted at most leading shops and restaurants. Card-holders should check
with their credit/charge card company for details on merchant acceptability and other services that may be available.
There are open-air markets, one day a week, in most towns and villages, and one open-air market daily, at Merchants Street, Valletta.
The largest is the Valletta market on Sunday mornings.
